Foreword by the NEBULA partners
“The New European Bauhaus (NEB) and the Built4People
(B4P) partnership are pivotal in transforming Europe’s
buildings and communities to meet the EU’s climate
neutrality goals by 2050. With buildings responsible for
36% of the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions and nearly
75% energy inefficient, these initiatives target the
sector’s untapped potential for sustainable innovation.
NEB merges sustainability, inclusivity, and aesthetics to
improve quality of life, while B4P accelerates the
transition to a people-centric, climate-neutral,
sustainable, and smart built environment by bringing
together the whole value chain, and connecting
stakeholders thanks to local innovation clusters.
NEBULA makes the bridge between these two
initiatives by activating and nurturing a network of B4P
Innovation Clusters, to support and accelerate open
innovation for the built environment.
A key task within NEBULA was to identify high-potential
innovations from EU-funded B4P and NEB projects, as
well as NEB-compliant exploitable results from projects
outside the NEB and B4P funding frameworks. This
assessed innovation degree, exploitability, impact, and
compliance with NEB values, using the EC Horizon
Results platform, Innovation Radar guidelines, NEB
Prizes and METABUILDING platform.”
