European Sustainable Energy Week 2024 | 11-13 June | Brussels (hybrid)

CHRONICLE will be presented as part of the Next Gen EPC cluster's session at the European Sustainable Energy Week 2024! This policy session, taking place on the 11th of June, addresses the EU-wide transposition and practical implementation challenges of the EPBD Recast.

Session: ‘Implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive recast

11 June 2024
14:30 – 16:00 CEST
Charlemagne Building, Mansholt room, ground floor

This policy session, organised by EPB Center and the Next Gen EPC cluster in collaboration with EPBD.wise, will explore the complexities involved in aligning diverse legal and regulatory frameworks across EU member states, integrating multiple stakeholder inputs, ensuring practicality and feasibility, harmonizing efforts, and effectively disseminating information. The Build Up Portal will be highlighted as a key resource, offering a single-entry point for accessing comprehensive EPBD guidance documents and other resources to support stakeholders.

Furthermore, this session bridges the directive-to-action gap in implementing the EPBD Recast, a cornerstone of EU sustainable energy policy in the building sector. It makes salient the results and ongoing work of the Next Gen EPC cluster and EPBD.wise, projects funded by Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, and LIFE programmes.

By showcasing the achievements and insights from these EU-funded projects as well as the integration of the upcoming EPBD Recast Official Guidance Documents from the European Commission and contributions from the EPBD stakeholder community, the session enriches the energy policy debate with practical, evidence-based strategies for the transposition and implementation of the EPBD Recast.

The use of the BUILD UP Portal as a central hub for disseminating the aforementioned resources emphasizes the session’s commitment to knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving. This approach fosters EU-wide uniformity of efforts in implementing the EPBD Recast.
